Ekaterinburg
Yekaterinburg is the capital of the Urals, in the eastern part of this important mountain range, in
Russia.
It is one of the major large industrial and cultural centers in the country. Yekaterinburg is located just under 1700 km from
east of
Moscow, the capital of the country.
As is known, the Urals separate European Russia from Asian Russia.
The fourth largest city in Russia, with 1.4 million inhabitants, Yekaterinburg is located 1670 km from Moscow. During the regime
communist, the city
changed its name to Sverdlovsk. But after the end of this regime, it recovered its original name in honor of Tsarina Catarina I,
Pedro the Great's wife.
The metallurgical and machinery industries are among the most important in the region.
Yekaterinburg is an important point on the famous
Trans-Siberian Railway and important
center with international air connections.
