From Litterature to Real Life
From the last quarter of the 19th century to the present day, the role of digital life in our daily lives has
increased exponentially.
From fiction books to science fiction films - for example, the famous book
1984 by the English writer
George Orwell
- our lives are increasingly dependent on the
digital world. Identity cards, medical appointments or tax returns are
some of the most common examples of the use of digital means in our daily lives. Not to mention facial identification
and other control mechanisms..
Tools for Daily Life
Powerful tools - The benefits of these powerful tools, such as
instant messaging applications
(
WhatsApp, Telegram) are undeniable. There are places where telephone lines do not work properly and thanks
to these applications, people in these remote areas can contact their relatives or get in touch with service providers, stores, etc.
Other apps bring leisure to relatively isolated communities - including those with satellite internet, such as Starlink - in
addition to connecting people.
They also bring
education and health services, which represents an invaluable offering to these communities..
Check out some valuable apps for your daily life below.
Power Tools for Daily Life
Best Apps
Some apps that are simply indispensable for my day to day life
1. To share news, leisure ideas and opinion with friends
• Facebook and Instagram
The best apps for sharing moments, holiday emotions and other events, as well as bringing friends and family together.
2. To connect with friends and services
• WhatsApp and Telegram
Besides the Messenger (Meta) app, WhatsApp and the less popular Telegram apps are the preferred instant messaging apps for most users.
3. Document Readers
Reader for various documents, from invoices to brochures and books. Several companies offer their own options to compete with the
classic Acrobat Reader.
• Adobe Acrobat Reader
4. Web Browsers
Web browsers - Among the most popular, the highlights are Google Chrome and Firefox. Chrome is preferred by network professionals
for its website analysis capabilities and many other details, in addition to its integration with other services offered by Google.
• Google Chrome and Firefox
5. Email services
Among the numerous email service providers, the highlights are Google's GMail and Microsoft's Hotmail. Each has its own particularities,
advantages and disadvantages.
Storage capacity is a differential to be taken into account, in addition to, of course, ease of use. My favorite is GMail.
• GMail and Hotmail
6. Translating Tools
There are several services that offer automatic online translation, including those offered by Google and Apple.
My favorite translation tool, by far, is Google Translate.
• Google Translate
7. Maps
When it comes to maps, in my opinion, Google Maps offers the best results by far.
Main roads, travel times and many other conveniences are provided by the Google app.
• Google Maps
8. Moving around
Once again, Waze - another Google app - comes out on top in the preference of many users due to the accuracy of the results it offers.
• Waze
Tech in Brazil
Brazil ranks seven in digital transformation in public service
The result stems the government’s improved online platform.
Brazil ranked seven on the World Bank list assessing the current state of digital transformation in the public service across 198 economies.
The result was released by the federal government today (Sep. 30).
According to the bank’s GovTech Maturity Index 2020, the country stood ahead of all other nations in the American continent, including the
US and Canada.
Ahead of Brazil are South Korea, Estonia, France, Denmark, Austria, and the UK. Furthermore, Brazil is the only country among the ten first
nations with a population of over 100 million people.
The result, the government stated, stems from improvements in the government’s Gov.Br platform, with over 115 users today. Early in 2019, the
web portal was accessed by some 1.8 million people. The platform enables visitors to gain access to a number of digital services and
information and the relationship between government and citizen.
The World Bank’s GovTech index surveyed countries considering four aspects: support for the main government systems; enhanced service
delivery; integrated citizen engagement; and the encouragement of the development of digital skills in the public sector, along with the
appropriate legal and regulatory regimen, training, and innovation.
Brazil stood out for digital solutions of massive impact, like the payment of unemployment benefits and the emergency aid aimed at mitigating
the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.
